Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny quiet town. Many people who don't know the name mistakenly believe that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually, this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward of the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is frequently referred to as her birthplace. But she only resided there for a very short period of time. Brugel grew-up in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. Early ambitions were to become a dancer. But, a growing spurt caused her to outgrow all of the dance partners she was able to have. She admitted in an article written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. After I outgrew the male counterparts, I gave up. Many former dancers turn to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was a suggestion from the drama instructor at her high school who encouraged her to go in that direction. One of her teachers suggested she try out for a school play. She was chosen to play the lead role in Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel's been in over 60 productions both large and small. One of the most memorable was when she landed Rita's role on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 and only appeared occasionally.
